was conceived by Ajay Kurian as a project space, or a "pop-up gallery." The idea behind the space is to offer an alternative to the dominant gallery model. There is no owner, no stable of artists, and no stable location. Its existence is nomadic and irregular. When a project arises that is of interest, and when it becomes possible, the gallery will reappear. All that stays the same is the moniker: the golden grasshopper. This particular grasshopper is the seal of the Gresham family line, and it pays tribute to Sir Thomas Gresham, the seal’s own creation myth, and the many fables that follow the grasshopper.
